Being the safest city of our size takes a real commitment to our first responders.
Our police, firefighters and EMTs are the most highly trained, best equipped and most committed professionals that you’ll find anywhere. I take very seriously the city council’s responsibility to maintain and advance their ability to respond and react. Public safety is and should be the bedrock of any great community. I work closely to ensure our first responders have what they need, when they need it. Of course, quality of life encompasses more than just public safety. Look at the recreation centers we’ve built and the continue to support. The Sportsplex continues to host numerous events locally, regionally and more and more nationally. In fact, we look forward to hosting the AAU junior Olympics in 2020. Our beaches, rivers and outdoor amenities set us apart from other communities while providing all of us who live here a natural bounty of riches. Surfing, boating, fishing and even zip-lining in our own backyard. It’s a pretty remarkable quality of life that I want to keep working to expand and enhance.
